Abandoned checkouts and the export to Shopify

Checkouts with an email, unpaid and quiet for 30 minutes, listed on Insights and optionally exported to Shopify customers with a tag.

Updated

What counts as abandoned

A LatchPay checkout where the buyer typed an email, did not pay, and has been quiet for 30 minutes. Shopify's own abandoned-checkout list and emails do not cover LatchPay checkouts, because they never reached Shopify's checkout; this is the replacement.

The list on Insights

Insights lists them with the cart, the total and the age. Follow up opens your own mail app with the buyer's address and a short subject; LatchPay sends nothing itself. An In Shopify badge marks rows already exported.

Exporting to Shopify customers

  1. Switch it on in Settings

Settings → Abandoned checkouts → Export to Shopify. Off by default.

  2. What is written

The buyer becomes a customer in your Shopify store (or the existing customer is updated), tagged latchpay and abandoned-checkout, with the cart lines, the total and a link to resume the checkout in the note. Your own text in the note is kept; only LatchPay's paragraphs are replaced.

  3. When it runs

While you use the dashboard, at most every 10 minutes; every night at 03:00 UTC; and on Sweep now. Checkouts from the last 30 days, 50 per run, oldest first. Settings shows how many were exported and how many are waiting.

  4. Use the tag

Build the follow-up in Shopify Flow, Shopify Email or your mail tool on the abandoned-checkout tag.

When the buyer pays after all

When an exported buyer completes the payment, the abandoned-checkout tag is removed, the note says the order was completed, and the consent the buyer gave is written. The Insights row disappears from the list.
