LatchPay and Shopify

Shopify keeps the store. LatchPay replaces only the checkout page and the card charge, through a custom app you create in your own Shopify organization. Nothing is copied out of Shopify, and every paid order is written back into it.

Stays in Shopify

  • Products, variants and inventory
  • Prices, discount codes and Markets currencies
  • Shipping rates and tax, as your store charges them
  • Orders, fulfilment and order confirmation emails
  • Customer records and the order status page

Moves to LatchPay and Whop

  • The checkout page (hosted by LatchPay)
  • The card charge (on your own Whop business)

What LatchPay reads and writes

The custom app is limited to the scopes listed in the Shopify guide. LatchPay checks the exact list when you connect and again on every re-check.

Reads

  • Products and variants, to show line items on the checkout
  • Inventory and locations, to confirm the quantity is available
  • Markets, shipping rates and discount codes, to quote the cart exactly as Shopify would
  • The shop settings: name, store currency and presentment currencies

Writes

  • A draft order while quoting, so shipping and tax come from Shopify itself
  • The paid order, with a sale transaction, once Whop confirms the payment
  • The customer record on that order, so emails and history work as usual
  • A partially paid order tagged for review if Whop collected less than Shopify quoted

How the hand-off works

  1. A buyer presses Checkout or Buy now on your Shopify storefront.
  2. The theme line sends them to the LatchPay checkout, which quotes the cart live from Shopify.
  3. The buyer pays by card in Whop's payment element, on your own Whop business.
  4. On a verified Whop payment, LatchPay creates the order in Shopify as paid. Inventory and emails follow as usual.
  5. Where possible the buyer lands on Shopify's own order status page.
