Connect your Mollie account

Take a store's payments on your own Mollie account: connect it, pick the website profile, finish Mollie's verification, and what changes (you are the merchant of record).

Updated

Before you start

A store can take its payments on your own Mollie account instead of a Whop business. Buyers are then charged on your Mollie account, never on LatchPay, and you are the merchant of record: payouts, refunds and chargebacks stay on your Mollie account.

  • An active LatchPay membership and a connected Shopify store.
  • A Mollie account you can log in to, with a website profile for the store's website.

Connect Mollie

  1. Choose Mollie for the store

In the wizard's payment step, choose Mollie and press Connect with Mollie. In the dashboard, open the Mollie page and press Connect with Mollie.

  2. Log in at Mollie and approve LatchPay

Mollie opens. Log in to the account you want your payouts in and approve LatchPay. Mollie then sends you back to LatchPay.

  3. Check the profile on the Mollie page

The Mollie page shows the profile's name and its pfl_… id, whether it runs in Test or Live mode, and whether Mollie lets it take payments and pay them out.

If you cancel on Mollie, nothing is connected and you can start again. A connection link can be used once and expires after an hour; the page says so when you use an old one.

Choosing the website profile

Mollie keeps one website profile per website. When your Mollie account has one profile, LatchPay uses it. When it has several, LatchPay asks Which website profile should your store use? and preselects the profile whose website matches the store. The choice expires after 15 minutes; start again if it does.

When the profile's website is not the store's, the Mollie page says so. The store may need its own profile in Mollie. Without any website profile, create one in your Mollie dashboard first, then connect again.

One website profile can belong to one LatchPay account. Two stores on two profiles of the same Mollie account each connect once.

Mollie's onboarding and verification

  • Payments, Payouts and Profile on the Mollie page show what Mollie reports: whether the account can take payments, whether it pays out, and whether the website profile is verified.
  • While Mollie needs more details, the page reads Needs verification. Finish the onboarding in your Mollie dashboard, then press Check again.
  • LatchPay checks again when you open the Mollie page and the last check is more than five minutes old.

Test mode and going live

On a LatchPay setup that runs Mollie in test mode, the Mollie page shows a Test badge, the checkout says no real payment is taken, and test orders reach Shopify marked as test orders, which the usage fee skips. Test payments work before Mollie has verified the profile.

When LatchPay switches to live mode you do not connect again: open the Mollie page and press Check again. The profile goes live once Mollie has verified it and lets it take payments.

Payment methods

Cards, Apple Pay, iDEAL, Bancontact, EPS, Przelewy24, Klarna, Riverty, in3 and PayPal work on Mollie stores. The checkout shows the methods you switched on in your Mollie dashboard for that amount and buyer; Klarna, Riverty and in3 appear once the buyer's address is filled in.

The Payment methods card only hides methods. Switch methods on and off in your Mollie dashboard; Riverty and in3 are switched on and off there only.

PayPal starts hidden

PayPal is hidden on new stores. To offer it, switch PayPal on in your Mollie dashboard and then switch it on in the Payment methods card.

Apple Pay

Apple Pay needs your own checkout domain

On Mollie stores Apple Pay shows only on the store's own checkout domain, never on LatchPay's shared checkout address. Set up a custom checkout domain and switch Apple Pay on in your Mollie dashboard. The Mollie page says which of the two is missing.

Subscriptions and one-click offers

Subscriptions and the one-click offer after checkout use saved cards only. They need recurring card payments switched on in Mollie, and LatchPay's permission to manage customers and mandates; the Mollie page shows Recurring cards and what is missing.

  • A subscription is paid by card; iDEAL, Bancontact and the other bank methods are not offered in a subscription checkout.
  • Buyers who paid with iDEAL, Bancontact or another bank method see no "save my card" box. A one-click offer then opens the payment box, and they pay the offer there.

Refunds and chargebacks

  • Refunds made from LatchPay or in your Mollie dashboard show on the order and reach Shopify once Mollie reports them done.
  • Chargebacks show on the Chargebacks page after Sync from Mollie or Mollie's notice. Mollie handles chargeback disputes: respond in your Mollie dashboard. LatchPay has no evidence form for Mollie stores.

Fees

Mollie's own fees apply on your Mollie account. LatchPay adds nothing to the payment: your LatchPay plan and the weekly usage fee stay exactly the same, billed through Whop to the card on your membership, whatever provider a store uses.

Disconnecting and switching

  • Disconnect on the Mollie page removes LatchPay's access to your Mollie account. Every store on that profile stops taking payments until you connect again; refunds of earlier orders are then made in your Mollie dashboard.
  • Removing LatchPay under the connected apps in your Mollie dashboard has the same effect.
  • Switching a store between providers only changes where new payments go. Checkouts already paying finish on their own provider, and refunds of earlier orders stay on the provider they were paid on.
