LatchPay vs Lasso for Whop payments on Shopify
LatchPay and Lasso both connect a Shopify store to Whop payments. A fair comparison of features, pricing, setup and what stays in Shopify, as of September 2026.
Published · 7 min read

LatchPay and Lasso both let a Shopify store take payments through Whop instead of Shopify Payments, and both are installed through your Shopify theme. LatchPay is narrow on purpose: it replaces only the checkout page and the card charge, keeps everything else in Shopify, takes payments on your own Whop business, and publishes a fixed price. Lasso describes a broader checkout platform that works with Shopify and custom sites and routes payments across more than 20 processors, with pricing you get from Lasso directly.
This comparison uses LatchPay's own documentation for LatchPay, and only Lasso's website and Whop's Lasso documentation for Lasso. Facts about Lasso are as of September 2026 and linked where they appear. If something here is out of date, Lasso's own pages win.
What each product is
LatchPay
LatchPay replaces two things on a Shopify store: the checkout page and the payment. When a buyer presses Checkout, a hosted LatchPay checkout opens, quotes the cart live from Shopify, takes the payment on your own Whop business, and writes the paid order back into Shopify. Whop is the merchant of record on your business, so card statements start with WHOP*. See What LatchPay does, and what it does not.
Lasso
Whop's documentation describes Lasso as a checkout platform that connects your Shopify store to Whop's payment infrastructure, with T+3 business day payouts, built-in dispute management and access to Whop's payment methods, independent of Shopify Payments. On its own site, Lasso says it works with Shopify and custom sites, is connected to more than 20 payment processing solutions, and routes each transaction by rules you set to improve approval rates.

"Not covered in the pages we reviewed" means exactly that: we did not find it on Lasso's public pages, not that Lasso lacks it.
Features
Checkout building
LatchPay's checkout editor edits both the checkout and the thank-you page. You can reorder sections and add blocks such as reviews, trust badges, payment logos, a guarantee, FAQ, a free-shipping bar, an honest reservation timer, a countdown discount, order notes, gift messages, custom fields, paid gift wrap and your own HTML and CSS. The checkout keeps the shape of Shopify's one-page checkout and is branded per store.
Lasso's site presents its checkout as built for conversion and approval rates, with one-click payments and optimizers. Whether it offers a comparable visual editor is best checked on Lasso's site or in a demo.
Upsells
LatchPay has an order bump (one extra product the buyer ticks at checkout, in the same order and payment) and a post-purchase offer on the thank-you page. With the buyer's consent, the post-purchase offer charges the saved card or wallet in one click and becomes a second Shopify order that ships with the first.
Lasso lists upsells, downsells, order bumps and subscriptions as its optimizers.
Payments and routing
This is the clearest difference. LatchPay runs every payment on the Whop business you connect for that store; the methods buyers see are the ones Whop offers for the order, card first, and you can hide methods per store (Payment methods).
Lasso describes itself as connected to more than 20 processing solutions and routes each transaction by rules. If you want several processors behind one checkout, that is a reason to look at Lasso. If you want one processor, your own Whop business, and nothing in between, LatchPay is built for that.
Fraud, disputes and tracking
LatchPay scores each checkout with fraud rules: above one threshold the order is charged and held for review, above another it is declined before any charge. Disputes and pre-dispute alerts from Whop are linked to the Shopify order, and you can file evidence from LatchPay. Server-side tracking sends checkout steps and purchases to Meta, TikTok, Google Analytics 4, Pinterest and Snapchat with your own tokens.
Whop's Lasso page mentions built-in dispute management, and its guide includes sections on handling chargebacks.
Pricing
LatchPay
From the fees page:
- Starter: €100 per 30 days plus 0.5% of paid orders minus refunds.
- Scale: €299 per 30 days plus 0.25% of paid orders minus refunds.
The plans cost the same at €79,600 of paid orders a month. The usage fee is billed weekly to the card on your LatchPay membership and never taken out of a payout. Whop's own processing fees apply to each store payment, and Shopify may add its third-party transaction fee because the payment runs outside Shopify Payments. See Whop's and Shopify's fees on top.
Lasso
As of September 2026, Lasso's site describes transparent interchange-plus pricing with flat markups and pricing that scales with you, but we could not find published plan prices. Ask Lasso for a quote on your volume, and ask whether Whop's fees apply on top when you process through Whop. Shopify's third-party transaction fee would also be expected for any payment taken outside Shopify Payments; confirm with Lasso how it applies to their setup.
Setup
LatchPay
- Create a LatchPay account and choose a plan.
- Connect Shopify through a custom app in your own Shopify organization, limited to the scopes LatchPay lists.
- Connect Whop and pick the business that should receive store payments.
- Add the theme line, place a first test order, then switch the checkout on.
Switching off in Settings brings Shopify's checkout back on the next page load.
Lasso
Whop's guide has you create a Lasso account, complete KYC identity verification under Payouts in Whop, then go through Lasso's onboarding, which connects Whop and Shopify. You copy an install code from Lasso's Shopify integration page and paste it into theme.liquid, and the guide recommends doing that in a duplicate theme so you can preview and test before publishing.
What stays in Shopify
With LatchPay, Shopify keeps products, variants, inventory, prices, discount codes, shipping rates, tax, Markets currencies, orders, fulfilment, confirmation emails and customer records. LatchPay copies nothing out of Shopify and writes each paid order back as paid; see LatchPay and Shopify.
For Lasso, the public pages we reviewed did not spell out in detail which data stays in Shopify and how orders are written back. If this matters for your fulfilment or apps, ask Lasso directly.
Honest limits of LatchPay
- Shop Pay and the storefront's express buttons are hidden while LatchPay is on; the checkout offers Apple Pay and Google Pay itself where Whop offers them.
- Checkout apps that inject into Shopify's own checkout do not run on the LatchPay checkout.
- One discount code per order, and no subscriptions or selling plans yet.
- Replacing the checkout from the theme is how it works today; Shopify may tighten what themes can do.
Which to choose
Choose LatchPay if you want a Shopify-only tool with a fixed, published price, one processor (your own Whop business), and everything except the checkout page and charge left in Shopify. Look at Lasso if you sell on custom sites as well as Shopify, want several processors with routing rules, or need subscriptions today.
You can see LatchPay's checkout in the demo, read LatchPay and Whop, and create an account to place a test order on your own store.
